This is a great book and the first book in a series of five. The charactors are well developed and easy to relate to. I really enjoyed the storyline. I won the first four books of the series in a giveaway and can not wait to start the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book.
Epic Fantasy. Very good, need to read the next in the series
Review taken from my blog, The Haunting of Orchid Forsythia.First Sentence:As a summer heat scorched the land, the stink of death could be sensed miles away. Prophecy of the Guardian starts off with the the people of Loreladia who are forced to leave their kingdom behind after they suffered a grievous lost during their last battle with the Cullach. One of the most fascinating things about this book, to me, would have to be the Nasharins and when they transformed (or used their unique abilities). [...]
This is a book full of adventure, mystical creatures, magic and heroic characters. The Second Great War between Light and Dark will begin and only one person can save the Earth, the Guardian, Darshun Luthais. It began with the war between Loreladia and the evil Cullach. Thousands of Loreladian soldiers and their King met their death on the battlefield and only four returned. Of the four that returned Mirabel Luthais took over leadership and as requested by the King before he died Mirabel evacuate [...]
This story begins at the with the returning of warriors from a battle where their fellow men-at-arms were completely obliterated . It is not often that a story begins with the lose of a battle, or the evacuating of an entire city. This one however does. The forces of dark far overwhelmed the cities forces and they were slaughtered. The remaining few were sent back to escort the people to a new land where the young prince can go grow and rule the remainder of his people in peace. Two of the remai [...]
Angels, fallen from the Light for their sinning, came to inhabit the lands with the idea to make the weaker races to worship them. Because of this attitude, Holy Angels fight a great battle with the Fallen and forced them back into their own realm. The blood spilled from the Holy Angels formed crystals that had power and caused some humans to gain powers from the elements. From there we have the division of different types of humans with different powers; Wizards, Nasharin, etc. We start the sto [...]
This is the first book of J.W. Baccaro’s Guardian series. It is as much a typical fantasy adventure as it is a not so typical fantasy adventure. As with all fantasy type stories, it comes with its own bit of mythos. Of course, you have your humans, elves, wizards and beastmen which is the typical part. The deviation for me occurs in the fact they mythos of the realm draws heavily from Judeo-Christian ideas. You have Abaddon, fallen angels and the like all interwoven to make a fascinating story [...]
This is an excellent story! It's been a long time since I've read a fantasy like this one. I agree that it's fast-paced with lots of action, suspense, and even a bit of drama. The story line is well conceived. I really like the Nasharin race Mr. Baccaro has invented. Nasharins are very colorful and fearsome creatures, (I can just see the special effects in a movie!) and the whole idea that Nasharins fall under a curse because of their origin really intrigued me. The wizards spawning from the ang [...]
First and foremost let me say that I absolutely adore the plot and the blending of mysticism and faith for it makes a most enticing and wildly entertaining storyline that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. There was obviously a great deal of time and attention spent interweaving more than a few different ideas and turning them into a cohesive and believable story. Well done and I commend you.Now on to less than favorable points that I have to touch on, much to my chagrin. While the story itself seems [...]
Impressive debut fantasy series will keep you on the edge of your seat! Tons of action, great plot, gripping writing style. Baccaro steps in to the fantasy/sci fi world and will hopefully go to the top! As Baccaro sets up the world between Humans and Nasharins and their enemy's the Cullach he doesn't overdo the details. You picture exactly what you need to, and it's not pages of boredom. As soon as you open the book you're in the world, he brings in the backstory as you go along, tossing fights [...]
Prophecy of the Guardian starts off with a defeat of the Loreladian army by the savage Cullach, ruled by an evil Syngothrian lord from the northern lands. Mirabel, one of the survivors, leads the remaining Loreladian people to safety over the Arundel Mountain.Once settled there, the story revolves around the young Nasharian, Darshun, as he grows up and discovers his Wizard Fire powers. After being introduced to an old Wizard Mazarian, Darshun learns that he is the one prophesied to lead an army [...]
A exciting, fun, adventurous, wondrous and magical read that is right up there with LOTR and GOT (I am a HUGE fan of both). As a matter of fact, if you are a LOTR or GOT fan I strongly recommend this book to you). There's a great world in these pages with such vigorous imagination, amazing mythical creatures, magic and strong original characters that snatch you into the pages and DO NOT let you go!A wondrous group of people/beings are trying to save the world from the Dark. In order to accomplis [...]
Prophecy of the Guardian: Guardian of the Seventh Realm Part 1 by JW Baccaro was published by Whiskey Creek Press in 2010 and may be purchased from the publisher at bit/o5hvzA Darhun Luthais is one of the last Nasharin warriors left and along with a few companions; they set out on a journey to find the Wizard Crystals of the Elements before they fall into the wrong hands of the evil Abbadon and destroy the earth. I was pleasantly surprised by this first time author. He was able to create an emotional connection. His lead character is not your typical good guy. He makes mistakes, and he's cocky as anything. I was surprised at how upset I was getting at this character. I have never wished violence on a character before, yet i found myself hoping that he would get his butt kicked, to take him down a notch. There are a few spelling, and gramatical errors in the book. I understand how upsetting this is for som [...]
